What’s New

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

As of December 1, 2011, the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents have a new option when visiting Canada. They may be eligible to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa and enjoy visits to Canada of up to two years without the need to renew their visa status. Among other things, proof of medical coverage is required. Please visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website, www.cic.gc.ca for more information.

Welcome to York University!

The University’s Immigration & Relocation Services office provides assistance to prospective and newly appointed faculty, professional librarian and senior managerial staff with many aspects of their relocation to Toronto and the surrounding area.

Moving to a new country or a new city is an experience that requires planning, information and support. Since each move is unique, our Immigration & Relocation Coordinator can meet with you to discuss your individual needs and guide you to the resources required to make your move a smooth one! Consultations are free and confidential. So, whether you are a new employee or a shortlisted candidate within the final stages of the hiring process, this service is here for you.

The Immigration & Relocation Coordinator is available at relocate@yorku.ca to answer your relocation questions as they arise, before, during and after your move, as you settle into your new home. Take a look at the Relocation Brochure for an overview of our services.

A Relocation Services Handbook has been compiled as an additional support to you, on matters such as:

>> the immigration process
>> moving and storage companies
>> temporary accommodation, on and off-campus housing
>> mortgage and financial services
>> ethnocultural, neighbourhood and tourist information
>> spousal/partner job search assistance
>> schools, child care and health care.

Please contact the Immigration & Relocation Coordinator for more information.

Note: Relocation budget matters are handled by your Faculty or hiring unit.
